"Native Education:  Leaders leading from the Middle Cross‐cultural perspective"
“All of us stand around the net as equals.  Sometimes one of us pulls harder than another.  Leadership is like that.  Leadership moves around the circle.  Everyone in the circle should be treated with equal respect because everyone in the circle is a leader past, present, and future.” (McLeod, 2002). If you can imagine the circle of life representing a Collective leadership way of being, a relatively new creation appearing in the concept of leading from the middle framework which lines up with thought of community.  Indigenous communities, collective leadership has been a way of life through the many centuries.
