Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

President's Message

April 28, 2016

Important – the NUUF Annual Meeting coming up on May 15, 2016. Please plan to attend. If you cannot please give your proxy vote to another attending member.

This year we are holding the meeting on a service Sunday starting after a short snack and coffee break (about 11:30 a.m.). Hopefully, some of our generous culinary folks will bring some hearty snacks to share. Please plan to load up on snacks or wait for a later lunch elsewhere. We are NOT planning a pot luck this year.

You will soon receive the agenda for the Annual Meeting. If you have questions, contact any of the Board members for clarifications.

Committee Chairs - Notice - First, thank you for all that you do to keep this organization humming. Second, please write down some of the accomplishments your committee has achieved this past year and submit your annual reports to me or Terry Hoyt no later than the Thursday prior to the meeting. We need time to duplicate them for distribution at the Annual Meeting.

Budget Info - Pledges for the coming year are somewhat less than recent past and will not cover the full requested expenses for our committees and operations. The Finance Committee and the Board have held increases to a minimum and are recommending that we make up the remaining shortfall from our savings/reserves. For future years we will have to either increase our revenues or reduce our expenditures in order to return to a balanced budget.

Meanwhile, enjoy this exciting and renewing changing of the season. Hello Spring!

Upcoming Services

May 1st - Rev. Bobbie Groth

Sitting with the Enemy:

Practicing Radical Peacemaking, or, Ten Ways to Deal with Someone You Hate

Sure, we all agree, it's more than necessary to "get along." It's survival efficient in a world sick with hatred. But how do we start it in our own lives? Words are not enough. Throwing money at campaigns like "Black Lives Matter" and "Standing on the Side of Love" are not enough. Just how do we, a more accepting denomination than most, "Sit with the Enemy"? How do we actually stand on the side of love and make everyone's lives matter in our own?

May 14th - Rev. Erv Thichmiller

May 29th - Rev. Mary Beth O'Halloran

Anyone who missed any recent programs and check out the audio CDs. May of the programs for the last 2 years have been recorded. The CDs are in the hallway at the fellowship in a 3 drawer case. Please sign the CD out in checkout book, also included in the top drawer.

It's that time of year again!  Now that snow is gone for good, we can get to our semi-annual commitment of picking up litter on our section of Hwy 47 N.  on Sat., May 7, at 1 p.m.

There are many activities going on every weekend, but hopefully some of you can spare just an hour of your time to help with this effort. The more hands, the faster it gets done!

Please meet at CTH F and Hwy 47 (towards Lac du Flambeau). Connie will have the garbage bags and safety vests; please bring work gloves.

If it is raining, we may need to set a rain date.  Any questions, call Connie Lefebvre at 715-358-2470.   Hope to see you there!
