● HEART OF WISCONSIN WALK: Celebrating Diversity. Recognizing that we are one. At 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 29th, hundreds of people will gather together to walk in a show of unity and respect at The Highground in Neillsville, Wisconsin.
"We believe that most people want to walk in a good way," said Gary Kmeicik (HunkpApa Lakota) one of the walk organizers and a Viet Nam vet. "The political rhetoric of meanness and divisiveness isn't what America is about. We want to invite everyone to join us in highlighting the goodness that is at our core."
"Two years ago several of us joined together at the Highground to celebrate diversity and to walk with respect and it's time to underscore that message again. We are just about done with a mini-documentary about the event and we thank all of those who walked with us," added Carol Amour, another of the event organizers.
They are planning to hold a second walk this fall in partnership with the Highground, a unique site in Central Wisconsin that honors the service of men and women who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms. Everyone is invited to join in, walking one-half to 2 miles followed by a celebration of diversity with ceremony and song.
"We'll be contacting veterans groups, college and university multicultural groups, and all the tribes in the state to invite them help share the word," added Amour.
A spoken word slam and sing along, and a showing of the rough cut of "the Heart of Wisconsin Walk: Celebrating Diversity" is scheduled for Aug. 29th in Lac du Flambeau Wisconsin. Donations will be greatly appreciated. They will help pay the filmmaker; pay for promoting the event; and provide water, tee shirts, and refreshments for the day of the event. Organizers, who are donating their time, hope to have at least 500 participants this year.

We’ve got a lot of room for parking if we just use it properly.

From Randy Wendt - President
Members of Northwoods Unitarian Universalists of Woodruff:
In line with the discussion of surplus Fellowship funds at the Annual Meeting, the Board is creating an Ad Hoc Committee to help decide how to use these funds, which total approximately $25,000. To help in this process, we have asked the Finance, Religious Education, Membership, Building and Grounds and Social Justice committees to appoint one representative to serve on Committee. We are also seeking two volunteers to serve as at-large members of the Committee, for total of seven. If more than two people volunteer for the at-large positions, the members will be chosen at random.
The committee's task will be to survey the fellowship for input and ideas, and to gather data on the costs of each proposed item, including projections of longer-term costs. For example, a salary for an employee, or the purchase of an item requiring regular maintenance, would have a continuing impact on our budget and would require larger contributions from members in following years.
The Board will present the results of the Committee's work to the Fellowship at the Annual Meeting in May 2019. The Board would like the Committee to submit its report to the Board by March 1, 2019. Please let me know if you are interested in serving on this committee as an at-large representative at wendt9333gmail.com, 715-356-1092 or in person by 09/30/18.
Thank you,
Randy
