“Family Reunion: Let’s Revitalize Our Fellowship”

Mark this as a very important day for the future of our Fellowship and for all NUUF members, associates and friends. Our industrious CARE Committee is planning a Fall Retreat. Our theme is “Family Reunion: Let’s Revitalize Our Fellowship.” The Care Committee has been aware of people slipping through the cracks, tasks left undone, a lowering of energy and involvement, etc. We think revitalizing is crucial for the well-being of the congregation. Specific areas of interest for the retreat include:

  • Building commitment
  • Encouraging participation
  • Communication
  • Friendliness to all, including visitor
  • Integrating newer people into the Fellowship
  • Deciding what programming we want (activities, not the Sunday programs)

For outcomes we are hoping for revitalization, enthusiasm, commitment, and support for struggling committees. It will be an enjoyable, learning-filled day, with some spiritual value built in -- not too much to ask for. Bring your ideas of how to revitalize our Fellowship.

Lunch will be provided: Stone Soup -- each person brings a little something to add to soup: a carrot, a handful of green beans, a small can of corn, etc. We all contribute our own special flavor to the broth of our Fellowship. Subway sandwiches - Subways are the vehicles that take us to our common destination; and Cookies - Cookies sweeten our journey. (Submitted by Dick Fields & Mary Beth O’Haloran).

Upcoming Services

Sunday Oct 4

The Reverend Dr. Bobbie Groth

Worship at the "Thin Places": The Spirituality of Sacred Space.

This sermon will look at the roles of Sacred Space in religion and history through the eyes of artists and writers. Why do we crave it? What makes it sacred? What do we need it for? Please think about your own sacred spaces, and if you care to share, you will have the opportunity to do so.

Also on Sunday 10/4 - The Memorial Garden is having a work day after the service this Sunday. We are looking for help carrying bricks up for the inner circle of the garden and help trimming back plants. Also some of us are also bringing coffee snacks so we would appreciate help in the kitchen. (submitted by the Memorial Garden Committee)

Other Upcoming services

October 18th – Rev Erv Teichmiller

Nov 1st – Rev Denise Tracy

Nov 15th – Ted Rulseh

Nov 29th – Sharon Reilly

Highway 47 cleanup

Help is needed to do our fall Hwy 47 litter pick up. The more people that show, the less work for everyone. If it is raining or threatening to rain that morning, the rain date will be the following week, Oct. 10. If you have any questions, call Connie Lefebvre at 715-358-2470.

The next women's meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 10:00 A.M. at the Fellowship.  The discussion is "handling health issues as we age."

The next Men's Group meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 13, 6:00 P.M. at the Fellowship. Bring a dish to pass.  Frank is providing the main course.
